Mr. Sawyer earned the B.M. in Music Education and Performance from Michigan State University and the M.M. degree in Music Performance from Northwestern University. No stranger to youth orchestras, Mr. Sawyer served as a sectional coach and substitute conductor for the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (MN) and was a member of two youth orchestras himself when in middle and high school. He brings a 'relationship first' approach to the orchestral experience where students are motivated to excel by the relationships they have with their fellow orchestra members and their combined desire to create a high-quality musical experience.
