The Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras, Inc. (NMYO) strives to enrich the region’s youth population through a superior musical experience. NMYO believes that high-quality ensemble experiences should be available to all young musicians and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnic background, financial ability, or physical disability. NMYO considers community outreach to be an important experience in the development of young musicians. Youth Serving Through Music, NMYO’s community outreach concert program, allows performers to promote the value of music in surrounding communities.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras, Inc. (NMYO) is to provide young musicians with exceptional ensemble training and opportunities for personal growth through musical performance and community service.

History
For 26 years NMYO, and its predecessor, NYSO, has served thousands of young musicians. Under the musical leadership of Music Director, Michael Coelho, and Executive Director Dr. Sarah Southard, NMYO strives to enrich and develop the region's youth population through a superior musical experience.
Serving youth musicians in the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, Cape Ann, and southern New Hampshire, NMYO's six ensembles include Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Intermezzo Orchestra, Overture String Ensemble, Prelude String Ensemble, and a Flute Choir.
The NMYO program includes weekly rehearsals, concerts, enrichment days, master classes, a student outing, chamber music experience, and a unique educational and outreach concert program.
NMYO’s concert season includes major performances at a variety of locations, including the Ipswich Performing Arts Center, North Reading High School Performance Center, and the Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport. Additional outreach concerts, held throughout the region, complete each performance season.
