Cecelia Kim

Cecelia Kim is an accomplished educator and violinist with a distinguished background in teaching, performance, and leadership. She currently serves as the elementary orchestra teacher for Salem Public Schools and will begin her role as the Prelude String Ensemble Conductor for the Northeast Massachusetts Youth Orchestras, Inc. (NMYO) in the 2025–2026 concert season. She also works with NMYO as a chamber music coach and maintains a vibrant private studio, offering instruction in violin, viola, and piano to students of all ages. Previously, Ms. Kim taught general music to Pre-K through 5th grade students in the Tri-Town School Union at Topsfield Public Schools. She also teaches English-language learners through Semonemo, an online tutoring company that provides personalized language instruction. Through Semonemo, she has led professional development lectures for teachers on the role of music in language learning curricula.
Ms. Kim earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, where she studied violin under Dr. Sarita Kwok. She has performed in masterclasses with renowned ensembles such as the Jupiter String Quartet and the Boston Trio and was the winner of the 2023–2024 Gordon College Concerto Competition with her own orchestral arrangement.
Ms. Kim’s teaching experience extends internationally, using music and education to build cross-cultural connections and promote music as a universal language. She is passionate about inspiring students through the arts and is dedicated to fostering creativity, discipline, and cultural understanding in all aspects of her work.
